“Probably that or maybe I can just grab some cheesecake with you, like usual?” he asks, taking her arm to wrap around his as he starts walking around the corner, leaving the previous statement behind and ought to start a new topic to discuss with her, a small smile tucking across his lips. “How was your sleep last night, you told me that you’ve been having nightmares, what kind, exactly? Maybe I can try and help facing it out?”
“Then again, you know I’m not much fan of sweets and all, so maybe next time? Or well, you’re one of the sweets I can actually tolerate.” he muses, turning a glimpse in her direction with a grin as he brings a hand forward to ruffle her hair.
“Cheesecake? I thought we were going to have ice cream.” She frowns, leaning her head forward to look at his face, her hands were already sneaking from his back to circle his waist, pulling him in a kind of back hug - but even before she could do anything, his arm were now on hers and she was walking beside him, the frown now slowly fading.
She let him hold her as he wished - as always - and only hummed lowly as he spoke, just trying to recall herself an old song she wasn’t sure it had been taught her by her mother or her grandmother long ago.
The rhythm ended up being lost when he mentioned the previous nights, and her canine met her bottom lip for a while, munching and chewing on the skin, and on the thoughts she couldn’t stop from getting and mixing with the song - wasn’t it all about the same thing? He couldn’t know of any, that was what she knew.
Letting go of her lip, she emitted a small noise that sounded like a hum as she shook her head, the sweetest smile she could produce already taking place proudly on her reddish lips; lies weren’t her forte, but oh, how she was good at changing subjects. “Mhm, I’m fine, dear. They’ve gotten better, isn’t dreamless nights better? But still exhausting. A little fish told me your sleeping schedule isn’t one of the best ones right now too, hm?”
“…But I can see well, not even sleepless nights can stop your cheesiness, isn’t that so?” She turned her head at him, lifting her chin and not letting the smile fail - only grow, a little more natural now - as well as the pink on her cheeks, fighting with her paleness. “People will end up thinking you’re related to me if you keep doing this, geez."
